Alcohol Inks

Medium: Alcohol Inks

Level: Beginner & Intermediate

Instructor: Keith Mills

Classes Per Session: 5
Price: Non-Members $160 / Members $140

Class Description: Alcohol Inks

Explore the world of alcohol inks and find your creative outlet in this exciting media.

Alcohol inks are fast-drying, highly pigmented, alcohol-based inks that are great to use on any hard, non-porous surface including glass, metal, plastic, ceramic, stone, leather and polymer clay.
Once the ink is applied, the alcohol evaporates, leaving the dye behind. Once alcohol ink dries, it can be re-wet with rubbing alcohol (91% Isopropyl Alcohol), allowing for unique and versatile effects that cannot be achieved with water-based products like acrylic paint.
Alcohol ink is waterproof, adding to its durable properties.

Level: Beginner, Intermediate

Instructor: Isabel Garrett

3 Class Session Price: Non-Members $110 / Members $90

Catching the Action Practice drawing the body in action and you learn to draw anything

Life drawing is a valuable practice that self-taught artists often miss out on.  Isabel, a classically trained “life class geek” with 50 years of experience will share the essentials in 3 workshop sessions that will simplify and demystify the process  By drawing a great variety (easy to OMG) of timed  (2 to 20 minutes) poses students will loosen up, gain confidence, and build new skills.

Session #1  Basic human proportions.  anatomical landmarks, thinking in 3D, and simplifying forms to capture movement and dimension.  How and when to measure.  Students will receive printouts of all the information  covered and practice drawing simple poses from video reference material

Session #2   How to approach any pose.  Timed poses from 1 to 20 minutes,  what to go for in the short ones, and how to refine and develop your drawing in the longer ones.  How to approach reclining, seated, scrunched up, foreshortened and back view poses.  What to look for and how to handle complex or difficult poses  Drawing what you can’t see. Capturing depth and dimension

Session #3  Emphasis on Extremities  Hands and Feet, Arms and legs.  Sure they’re hard, but drawing is not for sissies! And nothing will make you prouder than capturing their action. You don’t want to miss this one.
