The Magic of Collage
Can't draw? Can't paint? Then collage is for you. Everyone has the ability to make art. Collage is fun and intuitive and requires no special skill-- just your imagination. Collages can be created from a range of materials, like photographs, fabric, crayons and paint, or even 3-dimensional objects. Many artists throughout the 20th century, like Picasso and Warhol have experimented with collage in order to increase their creativity. If you are an artist it will improve your artwork. If you are not an artist you will become one.
The class will begin with a brief discussion about the history of collage. Followed by a demonstration of how collage works to jar your imagination. Through a series of hands-on exercises like cutting, tearing and gluing you will be inspired to create a uniquely personal work of art. A class discussion and exhibition will follow.
