JUDGES FOR 2019 ANNOUNCED:

Nancy Baur Dillen

Artist and art educator, Nancy Baur Dillen is Art Professor Emeritus at Brevard Community College (BCC). She was born and raised in Quincy, a small town in rural north Florida. She graduated from Florida State University with an M.A. in Art Education and Constructive Design in 1971. After graduation, Nancy moved to Melbourne, Florida, where she became an art instructor at BCC.

With her excellent background in art, Nancy already had a head start toward establishing herself in the art community. As an educator, she had the opportunity to work with and influence the art programs on all levels. While at BCC, she expanded the art program and taught a variety of courses that included drawing, figure drawing, painting, advanced painting, watercolor, acrylics, two-dimensional design, art history 1 and 2, and the business of art. She has been a guest lecturer, juror, exchange instructor, and art consultant both nationally and internationally. Dillen retired from teaching in May 2006. She paints full-time, creating art for public places, exhibiting and conducting painting and drawing workshops locally and nationally.


Brenda Gregory

Brenda R. Gregory is a Florida artist residing in the city of Tampa. Brenda received her BFA in Medical Illustration and Associate of Applied Science in Fine Arts from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1984. She began her diverse art career as a medical and scientific illustrator and then as a graphic designer. Brenda’s ability to communicate the precision of detail necessary for medical illustration, coupled with the creativity required for graphic design is reflected in her metalsmithing and jewelry design. Her passion for art and metalsmithing is what makes her an effective teacher to both adults and children.

John Walton

As a mixed media artist, John Wilton has participated in over 90 group and 40 solo shows, winning a number of awards along the way. Wilton maintains a studio in DeLand and has served as a judge for more than 60 art shows throughout Florida. In 1995, he was awarded an Individual Artist's Fellowship from the state of Florida.

Wilton has completed a number of public art commissions for Volusia County and the State of Florida over the years, including (locally) the Volusia County Justice Center in DeLand, the Marine Science Center in Ponce Inlet, the pedestrian crossover at Ocean Walk in Daytona Beach, the Beach Headquarters building at Sun Splash Park, the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando and a collaborative sculpture project for the DeLand City Hall building.

After a twelve-year career as an art director in South Florida, he taught Visual Arts and Digital Media at Daytona State College for 27 years. Professor Wilton also taught digital media classes at Stetson University and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. He has a degree in design from Florida State University and has done graduate work in printmaking, visual communication and education. Along with curating several exhibitions around central Florida, Dr. Wilton has published various art education essays and a dissertation on desktop video art.

Current affiliations include the Cultural Council Advisory Board of Volusia County; Secretary of the Board of Trustees at the Museum of Art – DeLand; chair of the Public Art Committee, Museum of Art – DeLand; Artistic Standards Committee for the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts as well as exhibition committees for the Ormond Art Museum and the Hub on Canal. Dr. Wilton was recently awarded 2018 Volunteer of the Year by the Museum of Art – DeLand.

Current projects include the DeLand Sculpture Walk (since 2010); the DeLand Utility Box Art Wrap Project; the annual Off the Beaten Path Studio Tour; a utility box art wrap project at One Daytona and development of an arts, culture and entertainment district for the City of DeLand.
