Have you ever wondered why some paintings immediately capture your attention while others seem to fall flat—even when they're painted from beautiful photographs? Cameras record a scene, an artist decides what story to tell. In this 5 day series of classes, you'll discover the planning process artists use to transform an ordinary photograph into a compelling painting. Learn how to identify strong reference photos, improve composition through simple thumbnail sketches, organize values to create depth and impact, and complete a monochromatic underpainting that serves as the blueprint for a successful oil painting. Whether you're just beginning or have painted for years, you'll leave with a practical process you can use to create stronger paintings from the very start.

Flowers are simply beautiful. And capturing this beauty in paint has been the objective of artists throughout history.

As the poet wrote:
A painted bloom, a vibrant hue,
Captured grace, forever new.
Brushstrokes dance, a petal's grace,
In silent beauty, time and space.
Each color sings, a silent rhyme,
Of spring's sweet kiss, defying time.
The artist's hand, a loving guide,
Where painted flowers gently ride.
